I take care of that laptop as best as possible, but I'm afraid, from what I see in the forums and general about this and other models from acer. For now it works right without any distress signal except for snapping while opening the laptop.
What can I do to avoid that kind of catastrophic failure?

Dealing with hinges, i would say its sometimes crucial. If your device is under warranty. My suggestion is to contact Acer support in your region and update the issue.

Acer should be able to help you.

This model number is well known... it is from 3 years ago, so there is no way it is under warranty.

Gotcha.. to be on a safer side.. i would recommend you to leave the lid open all the time.. the more we try closing and opening the lid the more chances it has to break..
