Hello, I'm planning on swapping a laptop's CPU with my laptop

The laptop's cpu which i currently have is : https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Mobile_Celeron_Dual-Core/B800.html#chipset

The one i'll be putting in : https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Core_i3_Mobile/i3-2350M_(PGA).html#chipset

They have the same G2 Socket and everything is the same, only thing i'm afraid about is, if my BIOS will support it, but then the thought of everything being the same just gets to me and i keep thinking it will work, so i'm not completely sure if it will.

Both Laptops :
Acer Aspire 5349 : https://www.cnet.com/products/acer-5349-2418/
HP Pavilion G6 : https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-pavilion-g6/specs/

A answer i had saw on here :

"these are the officially supported CPUs:

Core i3-2310M 2.10 4 5 GT/s 32 3MB L3 BGA1023 1.05V~ 1.1V

Core i3-2330M 2.20 4 5 GT/s 32 3MB L3 BGA1023 1.05V~ 1.1V

Core i3-2350M 2.30 4 5 GT/s 32 3MB L3 BGA1023 1.05V~ 1.1V

Pentium B940 2 2 5 GT/s 32 2MB L3 rPGA988B 1.05V~ 1.1V

Pentium B950 2.10 2 5 GT/s 32 2MB L3 rPGA988B 1.05V~ 1.1V

Pentium B960 2.20 2 5 GT/s 32 2MB L3 rPGA988B 1.05V~ 1.1V

Celeron B710 1.6 1 5 GT/s 32 1MB L3 rPGA988B 1.05V~ 1.1V

Celeron B800 1.5 2 5 GT/s 32 2MB L3 rPGA988B 1.05V~ 1.1V

I'm not an Acer employee."

Thank you!

Devilish just to give you my advice and experience in these sorts of ugrades, your Aspire 5349’s mobos runs a Socket G2 type cpu and has the HM-65 Express Chipset, make sure firstly that you have the last BIOS upgrade of the version 1.08 dated 2012/05/30 installed. The Aspire 5349 can also take a max of 8GB of DDR3 of up to PC3-10600-1333MHz at dual channel ram. With the cpu, you can go as high as the i5-2540M (which has 2 cores/4 threads/2.6 GHz to 3.3 GHz turbo/512KB L2 cache/3MB L3 cache and 35W TPD) or even an i7-2720QM. Btw, the i5-2540M (that I'm suggesting) is very similar in many ways to your OEM Celeron B800 cpu. Don't waste your money and effort on the slow i3's as there is no comparison between a slow Celeron B710, 800, 980 or the i3's to the faster i5's or i7's as these cpu's are far superior. Btw, I’ve tried both the i5-2540M and the i7-2720QM cpu and they both worked 100% with this chipset and this type of mobos in these older Aspires.

The Core i5-2540M is the perfect cpu for your Aspire 5349, as it work the quickest, most efficiently and is a perfect match as an upgrade. I've tried it in an Aspire 5349 and a 5750 and also in many similar and other such laptops (which btw the higher numbered 5750 is pretty much the same as your Aspire 5349) as it has the same HM-65 Express Chipset and the i5-2540M worked perfectly and unbelievably quick with it. This cpu was perfect for this type of laptop(s), which I’m sure that it will be for your 5349 too. Btw, I’ve even experimented and upgrade the i5-2540M further to an i7-2720QM (thinking and trying to get more performance) and to my amazement the i5-2540M outperformed the i7-2720QM as the i5 must be the perfect cpu that hit the sweet spot for the chipset and balance of the Aspire 5750 and the 5349, as two laptops the 5750 and the 5349 are basically the same. I do allot of upgrades and I have allot of experience with this, take my word.

Anyway its all up to you? But as a further suggestion and if its any help, I would upgrade the ram to 2x 4GB DDR3-1333MHz and as it willrun at dual channels, also put a SATA 6GB/sec SSD 2.5” drive into your 5349's and as an option, you can use the old spinner HDD as a slave and use a caddy to put it into your DVD drive slot, also, change the WiFi only 2.4G card to a Qualcomm Atheros AR9462-AR5B22 that ia a 2.4/5G WiFi and BT v4.0 type card that will give you faster WiFi and add Bluetooth alao (the link to the WiFi drivers is here Download  and BT drivers is here Downloadwhich I’ve done all this to that Aspire 5750 and it worked 100%, as doing all this, will improve the performance by at least 100% to 150% of your Aspire 5349 OEM specs and give you additional BT features. Hope this helps, cheers.

I plan on using the i3-2350, only cause i still got it from another laptop, which is free for me then and they both have the same stuff when it comes to specs, the plan was to upgrade to 8gb as well staying in the 1333Mhz zone.

    Hi,
Yes, you can upgrade and it will work, you don't need to worry about BIOS.
Alright, Thank you, will post the answer of the result tomorrow. (I don't have thermal paste at the moment, should I just wait a little and get thermal paste?)

Yes, you need to apply thermal paste when you install the new CPU.

Hello, I have a laptop Acer Aspire 5349 with a very weak Celeron B815 1.8mHz and TDP 35 watt Sandy Bridge.

Hey “pogiroheat” do what I’ve suggested above in my post and fit the Socket G2 S-Spec #: SR044 i5-2540M 2.6GHz to 3.3GHz turbo at 35W TPD (see caption below of the actual i5-2540M) which is the same Socket G2 as your OEM cpu (btw this cpu is for sale and all money is going to charity, cheap, see caption, its in as new condition and working 100% if interested?) get into contact with me, as this cpu is the ideal and best cpu upgrade for your Aspire 5349 with its slow Socket G2, S-Spec #: SR0HZ Celeron B815 at 1.8mHz and TDP 35 watt as it leaves the Celeron B815 and the i3-2350 for dead as its much quicker and will make your laptop more efficient :) cheers.

    S-Spec #: SR044 i5-2540M 2 core, 4 threads, 2.6GHz to 3.3GHz turbo at L2 cache = 512KB, L3 cache = 3MB and 35W TPD
