My V5-171 is only 3 weeks old but the blue tooth is not working properly, with the bluetooth turned on it can find other devices , like phone and a desktop pc and pair with them, but no device can see the V5-171 and it always shows the paired devices as off line when they are not.

No file can be sent to the V5 from any of the paired devices, and there is no option to send anything from the V5 sendto folder receive a file and send a file is missing from the pop up menu when right clicking on the bluetooth icon, Acer wants to charge me £35 to try and fix the problem, and PC World /Currys thec Support is less than useless.

I am reluctant to reset my machine because i shall loose my installed programs and as the problem existed from day one i dont thint that would change anything.

Can anyone suggest a solutionplease this is driving me round the bend

I'm sorry but this is not an Acer problem. The Qualcomm Atheros Wifi/Bluetooth has some issues even with other laptops. Are you using a usb bluetooth device? This might cause interferace. My suggestion would be disabling the bluetooth completely because it might cause some problems with your wifi too such as slow page loads or frequent disconnections.
