I'm trying to sort out the printing issues with my Acer 15. The printer is an HP 1102w. In the list of available networks the printer shows up as a network. If I switch to it I can print but it's a weak signal and can't support browsing. If I access my regular network then the printer is not recognized. I am confused why the printer shows up as a network.

While connecting the printer to chrome book yes both the laptop and the printer should be connected in the same network

I understand that. I've run a diagnostic page on the printer and it shows my main network as the active one. My Iphone prints to it with no issues. It's something with this Chromebook that's causing this issue

The printer isn't setup right. You want the printer connected to your wireless router instead of acting as it's own access point. The Chromebook should be connected to the same network and the printer should not be offering a connection.

I reset and reinstalled the printer. No longer listed as a network, but still can't print to it. Why does chrome make this so difficult ?

Printers are the bain of sysadmins all over the world 😂! When adding it under the settings -> advanced -> printing -> printers do you get any errors / warnings?

I don't see anywhere to add a printer. I have downloaded the HP print app also

I think the issue is with the printer. It will lose connectivity periodically and is unseen by the network. Probably time for a new one. It’s pretty old
