Touchpad lags during application launch. Whether application is spotify or chrome or edge. I have updated drivers from acer website and windows update.
It looks like touchpad lags when there is sudden spurt of CPU usage. But when I tested touchpad after disabling optane memory the lag was almost gone. From my side I think it is the optane memory which is causing the problem.
I bought this laptop last week from authorised acer retail outlet. It is new in market so I wonder whether lot of people have this optane memory laptops.
Kindly give me your explanations of the problem.

    Hi,
You could try reinstalling Serial IO driver, go to the kink below and download Serial IO version 30.100.1932.6, install it and see whether it helps.

    Done that already. No effect.

Optane is just another layer of memory, just like RAM and the processor's cache levels, it sits after the RAM and before the hard drive in the memory hierarchy. We could try upgrading its driver and the managing app (they're deprecating the traditional one that shipped with RST in favor of one that comes through the Microsoft Store). I have attached some drivers for you to try if they're compatible (I'm lacking the full model of your A514-53, but they should work).

Could it be a problem with the touchpad unit maybe? Who is the manufacturer (just out of curiosity)?

And another question, does it only happen with the touchpad? For example, if you have a file being copied and you're seeing the graph, or if you're playing a video, do they lag too when Optane is enabled?

I just find it odd, but I can't replicate it over here I'm afraid.

I have updated all the drivers. Even reset the windows. On software front I think I have tried most of the common things.

Two things I have noticed :
    • Disabling 'Link Power Management' in 'Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management' app -> disabling this helped a lot. Though touchpad lagged when launching applications but the lag was very less as compared to it being enabled.
    • Disabling 'Intel Optane Memory' -> This solved the problem for me. But this costs SSD speed.🥺
I can't see 'diagnostics' in BIOS utility menu (BIOS version 1.07) so I cant diagnose/check hardware. Although I don't see any hardware problem. It is a brand new laptop.

My guess is optane memory stresses the CPU(i3-1005G1) often which affects touchpad responsiveness. Does anybody has reasons for this problem ?

Also one thing to note is when I use wireless mouse there is absolutely NO problem of mouse lag. It is only touch pad which lags.
