turning the sound on

Yeah, pretty basic.  I am having all sorts of issues with the sound on my machine and I cannot get any sound to come out the internal speakers.  Bluetooth works fine, but there are occasions when I'd like to use the speakers of the computer itself.  Any suggestions?

    Hello @kopavi

Please try the steps in bullets below before going into the control panel - Hardware and Sound - Manage audio devices - select your desired speaker and set it as default.
    1. Select the "Speaker" Icon in the Notification Area
    2. Select "Open Volume Mixer".
    3. You should see the active device in the first column.
    4. Select the Drop Down Menu found directly underneath the active audio output and Select your preferred device.

Yes it works, but in a roundabout way.  I followed your suggestion and got to the screen showing the level of output for the several speakers I have.  The computer's  speakers were in fact showing that they were playing.  No sound was coming out.  It also showed that my external speakers were playing but no sound was coming out of them either.   I sat there looking at the little lines showing sound and hearing nothing and wondered.  I notice that the connect wire from computer to the external speakers was still plugged in and wondered if that mattered.  It does--I did not know that.  I disconnected the external speakers and now hear my PC's sound output great.

Might be my external speakers died.  They will get checked/chucked out.

Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.
