Both are compatible, but make sure the SSD isn't PCIe/NVMe as it is faster and more expensive than m.2 SATA, but as the port on your laptop is M.2 SATA that means it won't take full advantage of the NVMe SSD.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

The M.2 port is located on the right side of the motherboard. You have to open the back cover to get an access to it.

You will also need a screw to hold the SSD if the laptop doesn't have one already. The screw size is M 2x2.5mm given by Acer, but I think 2x3mm(CM2x3-3.3) will also work.
