Aspire TC-885-UA91 and resolution problem with Samsung S24F352FHN

I am using this Samsung monitor with an older PC using VGA and Windows 7.  The resolution is 1920 x 1080 and is perfect.  I am migrating to the Aspire and have it connected to the same monitor's HDMI port.  Windows 10 recommends the same resolution, but it is unusable.  The drivers are up-to-date - I had set it up a few months ago, but then set it aside, and have just updated everything recently.  Are these incompatible, or am I missing a step?  I've seen a similar problem with an Intel Compute Stick using HDTV as a display.  Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Okay, thanks for all your help.  Samsung actually got a human being on-line to chat and after several suggestions (different cable, different port), suggested I do a factory reset on the monitor.  That did the trick.  So, again, thanks all.  I really like my Aspire.

TC-885-UA91should be able to use one VGA plus two HDMI devices.
Can you explain what is "Unusable"? Got any "No Signal " message?
Have you tried to connect the same HDMI port to a different monitor or the Samsung monitor connected to a different port?

Thanks for the response.  The old PC HDMI is dead.  The problem with resolution  is that nothing fits.  At 1920 x 1080, the taskbar is only halfway displayed, and the left-most desktop icons are only half on the screen, and when the Start button is clicked, the leftmost (email, power, etc) icons are not displayed at all.  I am currently settled on 1280 x 600, which shows enough of everything to work with, but is far from ideal as you might imagine.

It is weird that W10 detects the Samsung monitor with 1920 x 1080 resolution but cannot output 1080p to it.

I may try to update the video drivers.

Oh! Intel just had some UHD 630 graphics driver updates for TC-885-UA91 several days ago. Have you done that update?

Hopefully that can solve your problem.

Double check to make sure the Display Settings isn't configured for a weird scale. Set it to 100% and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I'm a bit confused about updating the driver.  Intel suggests looking first at Acer.  Acer shows that my driver is the latest.  Intel's newest driver refers to a "DCH", while Acer calls it "VGA".  Should I get the Intel driver?

Does the Samsung monitor have OSD settings for overscan? The models that were designed to be TVs as well as monitors often have overscan turned on, which hides the outer edge of the video.

Some menu exploration revealed nothing about OSD or overscan.  Searching didn't find anything either.  I really do appreciate your suggestions.  I decided to go ahead with the driver update, despite the caveat about using Acer.  After I did (which seemed to get into a loop after "restart", so I quit redoing the same thing), my best resolution is 1280 x 600.  The vertical is perfect; the left-an-right screen cutoff does allow me to see and click, so even better than before, but still, kind of aggravating.  If you have any further suggestions, I will keep checking back.  Thanks a lot.

Well, your S24F352FHN should support 1920x1080 and so should the GPU in the computer... Is there any chance the computer doesn't recognize the GPU and is using the Microsoft Basic Graphics adapter drivers?

So, you are using the original Intel UHD 630 on-board graphics without adding a dedicated graphics card, is that right?

Thanks again.  Task Manager shows I am using the yes, original Intel UHD 630 setup.

Sweet! I wonder what was mucked up in the settings on the monitor to cause it...
