My acer aspire 5750z-4217 won't boot up

I went to turn on my laptop after not using it for the weekend but now all I get is this message

I did not update anything or add/remove anything on my computer beforehand, it was working perfectly fine when I last used it on Friday and now I'm getting this screen. Is this something I can fix on my own?

If you go into the bios, what mode are the disks in, and is secure boot on?

Is this the menu you're refering to?

Also on the main page it says hdd model name: none

It is :), under  SATA Mode what are the options? This could have been chnaged with the update so its worth trying the other options. And under security / boot is there an option like secure trust, or secure boot, or TPM use?

Under Sata there are AHCI mode (which is what is already selected) and IDE mode and
    Security tab

    Boot tab

I don't see a "secure boot" or "TPM use" option anywhere. I did try switching the sata to IDE mode but I got the same black screen with the same message as before

Thats odd, when its set to AHCI does the boot screen tell you about the hard drive? If it isnt a bio update which has flicked the boot mode, and no drive is detected it could be a failing / failed had drive,

does it make any grating or scatching noises when its turned on, and does it feel like the drive is spinning up? (oYou should be able to hear it turn on and feel a light vibration on the bottom of the laptop)

No grating noise and I do feel the slight vibration, when I boot it up everything sounds like it always did.
No matter what mode I set it to I don't get any info about my hard drive it just stays blank, is a failing/failed hard drive the only possibility?

It could also be a corrupted windows install if it didnt shut down properly, you could try booting the recovery media if i came with it to see if that can bring it back to life

Okay so I created a windows 10 iso on a usb, basically I looked up how to create a recovery media bc I didn't have one, after doing the startup repair I now have a new screen show up, also dies this mean my hard drive is okay?
Should I run the repair again?

It still could be either , its hard to say without being in the os! Try the reapir and see if that works, dont try a install as that will wipe data :)

If it is, there is a chance that everything is still on it though :), usualy when drives fail only bits of them do.

If you either find someone with a Sata to USB adater, or get one off amazon, 90% of the time data recovery is as easy as plugging the broken drive in, clicking though the warning about "do you want windows to check this disk" (Nope we dont), and then just copy and paste what you want to save onto a new drive

Oh that's a relief to hear, I'll try replacing the hard drive and see if that fixs the problem, thanks for your patience and all your help I'll let you know if replacing the hard drive works, have a wonderful rest of your week!

Hey, I finally was able to get a new hdd and installed it on my laptop and it works again!
Unfortunately when I used the sata to usb adapter my old hdd doesn't show up at all so I'm assuming that the old hdd is totally boomed and unreadable so all my stuff is gone :(
But I just wanted to tell you thank you for all your help! I'm glad I'm at least still able to use my laptop with the new hdd

Oh no :( does it 'spin up' when you plug it in? It could be that it's just not mounting it properly so if you open up disk management while it's plugged in does it show?

Thanks for getting back to us , sorry the old drive can't be rescued though 😭
