It won't let boot up to windows and it gives me this message...

When I turn my computer on only the "ACER" logo appears then it gives me this information of...

"This product is covered by one or more following patents (after that, I get numbers)

Realtek PCIe Family Controller Series v1.24
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, Check Cable

PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE-Rom
No bootable device-- insert boot disk and press any key

Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 003) Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation"

^^^Outside of that, The only thing the computer will allow me to do is Hit F2 to the bios information.

That's It. I need your help to restore my acer computer.  Can somebody help me?

Sounds as though the hard drive is faulty...try a factory reset by pressing the Alt key and F10 key simultaneously at the Acer logo after boot up...this usually brings up a page to restore factory settings...if this doesn`t work you will need to replace the hard drive...(on my machine you can also bring up the restore page with the F9 key at the Acer logo)

You can also use programs from the Hirens Boot disc to check the hard drive etc...it is free to download and use...

http://www.hirensbootcd.org/about/ ...you`ll need to enter the BIOS to set the "boot" priority to the top of the list and don`t forget to save changes when you exit the BIOS...there are programs that will check the hard drive...if it not accessible you`ll know it is kaput.

    Hi There,

    I have a similar problem.

In my case I know I have a bad HDD due to laptop falling on floor while it was running, therefore, I bought a new HDD that I tested at the store.

Once I plugged it in and started the system I couldnot get beyond the black screen message

"PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, Check Cable

    PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE-Rom
No bootable device-- insert boot disk and press any key"

I have the new HDD named & listed as number one in the BIOS booting sequence.

should I boot from a USB drive since there is nothing on the new HDD?

Am I missing anything or is my Aspire 5552 broken somewhere else?

    Please advise

try to disconnect your hdd from your device and slave it to a pc...try to check if you can access it.... and reconnect it again to your device....
