How to get 120hz to work on HDMI to PS5 for XB253Q

So this monitor is listed as supporting 120/144 through the HDMI but my PS5 will only pick up 120hz.
I've tried the proper PS5 HDMI which is good and an 8k HDMI cable too.
I've turned on performance mode, disabled HDR, nothing has worked so far. Also went into the PS5 and done the saved data performance settings.
What else can I do on the monitor to get it to work? FYI Six Siege runs at 120+ fps on my PS5 but the monitor will still be on 60hz so I just need the monitor to start refreshing at 120.

The PS5 needs an HDMI 2.1 monitor to do the highest modes, your monitor is HDMI 2.0.

This isn't true. You can find evidence of it working on HDMI 2.0 and most likely even the newer monitors with 1.4.
2.1 isn't out really on any monitors so back to the drawing board.
