DDR2 or DDR3 for Aspire 8930g

Despite the sticker on my Aspire 8930g saying DDR3 memory, a scanner from Crucial says it's only DDR2. Will upgrading to DDR3 make much difference?
Since I bought this machine a few years ago it's been really slow, I can barely run Lightroom. Has anyone found a way to improve performance on it?
I'm running Windows 7 home.

Thanks for that, but those aren't the specifications of my Aspire 8930g. My oricessor is Core 2 Duo T6400, 2 ghz, 800mhz fsb, 2mb L2 cache. It alos states 4 gig of DDR3 memory.

However as I said, a scanner shows 4 gig of only DDR2 memory, so my question was, woud upgrading the memory make a difference, given that that has always been a very slow machine?

HK53T....don't you think if I knew how to open a laptop and read memory I would have done it?

there is big door on bottom of unit with screws, maybe 5-6 screws

take door off, memory is underneath in stacked slots
