I have the Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-52 (this is the i5-9300H model) for almost 5 months and had a great time using it. However, for the past 2 days, I noticed that the speakers sound distorted or crackling - from the windows notification sounds (either when changing volume or normal desktop notifications) to videos from youtube (if the video has voice rather than music). When playing music, volume is between 60-80%, it sounds normal. When using headphones, audio is perfectly fine, so the issue is with the laptop's speakers.

Before the distortion issue happened, nothing was changed or installed.

Troubleshooting that has been done:
-Ran windows updates if possibly the drivers are not updated, didn't work.
-I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the RealTek Audio Driver with the current version 6.0.9084.1, nothing changed.

I don't plan on reinstalling windows as I am working at home but might reinstall it when I'm free during the weekends. I just hope that the actual speakers doesn't have any issues. I hope someone could provide some kind of insight on what I can do next.

You are clipping your audio signal by setting the audio volume too high.

Totally understandable but, for 2 months using the laptop with the speakers between 60-80%, I haven't experience this issue. Do you think resetting windows might fix it, or... is this now a hardware problem, like the speakers themselves?

So, an update on what I did. I went ahead and reinstalled windows just to have a clean slate on everything but I'm still getting the crackling issue. I think it's already a problem with the speakers themselves. Well.. this is just bad news for me tbh....

I have the same issue aswell! I have had the laptop for 2 months so this seems to be a acer speaker issue. If I can't fix it I'm going to get a full refund as I paid nearly £1,500 for a computer wich speakers shouldn't crackle after only 2 months of use.
