Swift 3 SF314-42 crashes on sleep

Is anyone else having problems with a clean install of Windows 10 and not getting the laptop to sleep properly? I saw the other thread where Hyper-V was the problem, but I think that feature is only available in Windows 10 Pro (I'm using Windows 10 Home).

Once my laptop goes to sleep ("connected standby"), it will crash 100% of the time when I open the lid. I have tried installing all of the drivers from Acer's product support page, but am still encountering this problem. The screen usually shows a BSOD with a CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED error, but the system resets before writing the memory dump file. There are not any clues in the Event Viewer either.

At this point, I'm wondering if it's faulty hardware, as I've tried both the Acer drivers from their website and the OEM drivers when available (from AMD and Intel).

Could you take a couple of pictures of the BSOD? There is usually a bit more detail than the CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED message.
Thanks for your response. It turns out the problem was my SSD drive. I had replaced the original SK Hynix drive with a WD Blue SN550, and apparently this new WD Blue drive was causing problems on sleep/wake. I replaced it with a new Samsung 970 EVO Plus, did a clean install of Windows 10 (2004), and I have had no problems since then.

Very difficult to figure this out as there was no indication in the logs that the SSD was the problem.

Yeah, likely though the SSD was the cause, something loading and failing from the SSD was the problem that the OS saw. Those can be quite tricky to figure out. :(

I've contacted Acer about this issue, they noted, that they're working on it. BIOS is passing qualification and should be released somewhere about December, so sleep issue should be fixed.

This issue happens also with Ubuntu 20.10

I met the same issue as you got. I read from a TW site, Acer confirmed SN550 is not compatible with SF314-42. And someone said Acer is working on a new BIOS to solve this issue. I did not try it again, But I have a 1T SN550 sleeping in my drawer. so said!

I have not heard that rumor from anyone at Acer.
