I have installed Debian Buster with backported 5.9 linux kernel. Everything works fine, except internal microphone.
Digital mics are detected:
[    3.245923] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1f.3: Digital mics found on Skylake+ platform, using SOF driver
In settings, I see sof-hda-dsp input, I can control mute and gain, but it does nothing - I can record only silence.
Is there any known solution ?

The latest Linux kernels are reported to be having intermittent/unpredictable issues with audio adapters on many Windows machines. I don't think the issue has been resolved yet. If you still have dual boot capability, you can check mic hardware operation in Windows. Quite often first booting Windows then re-starting or warm booting Linux will resolve the issue. You can check for solutions on the buster forums but my advice is to wait for future kernel updates to resolve the issue since the forum workarounds are often mainboard-specific.  Jack E/NJ

If you bought the machine without an operating system installed, I suggest you either post the issue immediately to the buster forums for a possible solutions or install LinuxMint Cinnamon 19.3 (not 20) now to fix the issue. Jack E/NJ
