Hi, I recently bought an acer nitro 5 (AN515-55-79CU) laptop with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB SSD Config & now I want to upgrade my laptop config. Help me to clarify the below doubts.

1) Will my acer warranty be void if I upgrade my Config on my own ?
2) I want to upgrade my RAM to 16GB. For that how can I find the supported RAM sticks ?
3) What is the maximum HDD storage my laptop supports ? Can I put 2TB HDD in my 2.5 inch HDD bay ?

Apart from that if any user manual / Guide available for RAM/SSD/HDD upgradation with step by step procedure, pl do share with me.  As I am doing these for the first time, user guides will be very helpful for me to upgrade without any issues. Thanks

  • Hi,
1.You have to check with Acer Support centre in your region to get the confirmation about warranty.
Acer Worldwide - Select your local country or region
    2. Download and install CPU-z, run it and check the specs of the current module in Memory tab and SPD tab, then buy the new RAM with same specs as your current module.
    CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID
    3. Yes, you can upgrade the HDD up to 2TB with a 2.5" HDD.

My model is also an AN515-55. What I'm wondering is does it have an empty space to add an extra hard drive or do you have to replace the hard drive with a new one?

it's a bit late but if anyone else sees this, maybe it helps, there is a space there, and you can fit a hard drive, so far it seems only 7mm not 9mm or 15mm, but you can fit a sata 7mm disk, so probably can get >2tb using that drive bay

The below statement from Crucial is what they say? so they must guarantee their suggestions and in your case it must work (I haven't tried the Crucial 2x 32GB in a Nitro AN515-55) so I'm only suggesting below what is OEM Acer suggestions from their SG for your Nitro 5 and the OEM specs of their memory. So and if you buy it from Crucial ? and the memory doesn't work, then I'm sure that they will change it for you for the suggested OEM Acer specs memory, its up to you?

    Crucial Memory Manufacturers Statement

"you may have noticed that when you check the maximum amount of supported memory for your system, that we recommend more than your system or motherboard manufacturer has listed on their technical specification. The good news is that this is not a mistake! On occasion you will find that due to system updates and technological advances, some hardware may be able to support more memory compared to when it was originally manufactured. At Crucial®, we ensure that the higher amount of RAM is rigorously tested and is backed by our compatibility guarantee"

This is what is recommended OEM by Acer for the memory modules of the Nitro AN515-55 as it comes with two different CPU's of the Intel Coffee Lake-H type i7-9750H or the i5-9300H and the recommended memory speeds are the DDR4 2400/2666MHz or the Intel Comet Lake-H type i7-10750H or the i5-10300H take the DDR4 2666/2933MHz type RAM. Both of these model Nitro 5 laptops take a max of 32GB RAM (2x 16GB) into their 2x memory slots.
