So last time I asked if I could change to a new cpu for my acer nitro 55 an515-52 gaming laptop. I got an answer that I can't.
"Hi, unfortunately you can not upgrade the CPU in this model, you have a i5-8300H CPU with BGA and it means it's soldered to the motherboard."

So next, the question is whether it is possible and whether it is worth buying a new motherboard with a better CPU with BGA which means that is soldered.
Or just don’t put money into it and save money on a new desktop PC.

what are your thoughts? Thanks for the answers!

    Depends on needs and requirements.
Choices: and look at the pros + and cons - :
    1) You have the option on spending money to upgrade a motherboard in a laptop at what gains and losses to cost ratio. (mobility, wear and tear, battery life, performance difference, etc.)
    2) Money spent on building a desktop rig at what gains and losses to cost ratio (Cheaper to build than buy, mobility, wear and tear, performance difference (Massive depending what components is bought), will it serve your requirements, etc.))

These are the main questions you should be asking yourself. In my personal opinion I would keep the laptop as is, don't upgrade the motherboard in it and spend the money on a decent desktop rig and just use you laptop as portable gaming platform if that is your deciding factor.

Hopefully this helps you out. Good luck in your decision making.
