Hello all

My computer savviness is about 2/10.  So bear with me.

I have an Aspire A3155-21-616E, Windows 10.   I am 99% sure I used to have two drives listed - C drive and D drive.  I believe the D drive was called "Recovery."  My pictures were saved there.  I recently went to access my pictures and couldn't find them.  I looked for the D drive, and it's gone.  It's just not there.

Under "Recent Files" I can see information about where the pictures used to be, but I get a "Location is not available" error that lists the D\Pictures\NewFolder\Etc... when I click on them (There is a : in there but for some reason it is changing it to an emoji, so I took it out).

Windows did update a few days ago.  I have tried Restore multiple times, but it gets hung up on the initializing phase.

I have tried multiple free recovery tools (EaseUS, Find and Mount, DiskDrill, Recuva) but nothing have found anything.

Can anyone help?

Thank you.

Right click This PC ---> Manage----> Disk management and see if your drive is listed there

Now that I know how to post pictures, here they are:

Thanks for replying.  It's not listed there.  I've included a picture... Where it shows one drive, I'm sure it used to show two (C and D).  I can't remember what information used to be in the partition section, so I don't know if it has changed.

Was the recovery partition 1GB before it disappeared? If so, it's the one listed next to the acer (C:)

    If it was,

Right click 1GB (recovery partition) ----> Change drive letter and paths ----> Add ----> Assign D as the drive letter (Not E as pictured) ---> Apply ---> OK

Thank you for replying!  I will try to do that.  Right now it looks like "Help" is the only option when I right click on it.  I will keep working on it.

For what it's worth, I can see the options you describe when I right click on the C drive.

Ah, then it might not be the drive you're looking for.

Hmm. Are you sure you didn't have another HDD/SSD apart from the 1TB one ?

I didn't think so, but now I'm wondering if I might have.  I did take a section off of the back of the laptop to check the hard drive cable, and all seemed fine.  But maybe there's another one in there?  Maybe I should take the complete back off?  I'm a little worried about digging around, but maybe that's the next step.

Okay, I'm back.  I took it apart and searched around and there is one hard drive in there.

I'm sorry I don't remember the details, but I believe both drives were 500 GB.  And now the C drive looks like it is 1TB.

I don't think you can merge two partitions without deleting one first. You didn't take a picture of it while the back cover was removed by any chance, did you?

    I'm sorry I didn't.

I don't believe I merged anything or deleted anything, but I found this in the device properties:

I have no idea what that means.  I certainly don't remember doing anything major on a Friday night at one in the morning!  And that was quite a long time ago - I think I would have noticed before now, but maybe not.

    Thanks again for helping
