My new Predator Orion 3000 (PO3-620) Can I change to 3080/90?

Hi all,

I am an impatient guy and I recently purchased a Triton 500 laptop to stream from and yesterday got my Orion 3000 2070 super Desktop. I don't know how to build one and missed the Overclockers buy to build before xmas deal. So I got the PO3-620 as it was in stock. I wanted to know if I could swap out the GPU for a 3080/90. I see replies saying yes but i'll need a 750w psu (ATX?)

Is this an easy switch for a newb? Do I need anything else and could someone maybe link a suitable psu that would fit in the Orion case etc?

Sorry to be a pain. I'm building my kids setup and have everything known to man here and have managed it all but with a 4k monitor with high refresh etc I want the best gpu i can buy but don't know if it will fit and work etc. Thank you - Lee, UK

    Tinkerer

    Are you ok length wise.

I was also after the same thing, but the case is really small, apparently they are 285mm which i think would be very tight in my orion 3000. I think a 3070 will be a better fit

Thanks for the prompt reply  :)

    All I know from spec sheet is 392 x 175 x 386 mm (H x W x D)

I apologise for my lack of knowledge

Isnt't that the po3-620 is using the atx12vo motherboard?

You'll need to verify fit with some measuring to be sure, but as Ken says the sticking point is going to be the PSU upgrade needed for the newer cards. Your power supply is the new ATX12VO design and larger ones aren't hitting the market yet. Do appropriate searching, but you'll need to change your existing 500W with a 650W, 750W or 900W depending on the card selected. You can't use one of the old style ATX supplies, they don't provide enough 12V and provide it on the wrong connectors.

Ok so I guess i'm a little stuck then?

As a total noob I don't really know how to do all of this so would probably take it to a computer shop or send it off to someone.

    Thanks for the replies !

Yeah, that's likely best. They should have the resources to see what's available on the market for ATX12VO supplies.

I'm very curious when there will be psu-s for our p.c.s I mean I'm okay with the size, I don't ned a bigger gpu, but on the cpu, yes, I could fit in a bigger one, and a cpu cooler. It's a bit problematic that you can't have more than 500 whatever you do. Basically there is nothing on the market yet. Not even if you get in treouble so u wanna change it not for a bigger one but the same. Especially because my only problem what I had with the p.c. was the psu, and for that reason I had to send to acer to change it, wait a lot, but it's basically shouldn't be a big deal to change a psu. It's the only reason I'm thinking about selling it and buy a normal atx model.
