My E1 570 got a new battery and Windows 10 and was working fine. It sat in its bag for a few weeks and then no splash screen no bios screen
Blue leds on power and battery HDD led flashes once and fan works
Tried changing memory, hard reset procedure and different HDD
De soldered rtc battery and replaced to clear bios No change
[I have not had access to ext monitor as yet but no sign of screen activity]
Should I presume video failure?
Could the Bios chip be bad?

Baffled by this one but will follow any advice before I give up and break for spares

Try to turn the screen on with the FN+F6 toggle key combination. If nothing, then you need to test the integrated GPU with an external monitor. If still nothing then it's more likely a cracked solder connection or chip level  failure. A solder reflow may restore it. Replacement mainboards are about $50-60. Jack E/NJ

I understand.  I faced a similar issue with an older machine that was still used as my main workhorse due to its reliability. Then one day last April it simply quit. I was devastated. After struggling with it for several days, I gave up, put it aside and moved all my personal files on to another system. But I just couldn't resist the temptation of  buying a new mainboard offered for $25. Took several weeks to get here on a slow boat. Then several more weeks before I got around to swapping it out on a Sunday afternoon. Then another day or two before I got up enough courage to push the power button and see what happens.  I'm still using it right now in this reply.  :)   Jack E/NJ

My main laptop is an old Gateway MS2288 dual boot 7 &10 with a pentium processor and a canadian multi keyboard that operates as an english querty It works but when it finally goes I have a double backup to externals so I hope all will be fine
