I have a aspire 5534 that will not boot up. When the button is pushed it lights up blue and the fan comes on . Nothing else. This happens with the cord or battery. I have also held the start button down for awhile with same result. There has been a little issue with the dc power adapter plug at the computer needing to be wiggled abit in the past. Ideas would be appreciated. I realize it may not be worth fixing and would appreciate any ideas. I have taker each pice of ram out one at a time and the result are the same. Thanks

I have the same issue on an ACER ASPIRE 5250 Laptop.  My model is 5250-BZ669.

I've had this laptop for 1 and half years, and the warranty is expired.

    Here's my issue:
The first screen starts up, let's you go into BIOS or choose startup. But then it goes to a black screen and the underscore cursor is there, just blinking, and it never gets past that point. The system fan is running on high speed, the highest it can go, and it just sits there. I went into Recovery Mode using the System Boot disc I made when it was working.  I choose Reset to Factory Settings, it goes through the process, and the same issue.

I removed the battery and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then put it back in. Nothing.

I removed both RAM chips, and then tried one at a time, but still the issue persists.

The next thing I try is removing the Hard Drive and seeing if it makes any more progress.
