I am following the instructions provided in the appendix folder of the most recent version of the BIOS available on the Acer site. I am running R2-A0. I have tried multiple versions of the BIOS and every time I execute the bat it opens a cmd prompt for a split second and then stops executing it altogether.

I have tried moving the folder to C: and executing the bat.

I have tried loading the WIN and ROM files to a USB drive and running it off a cmd prompt. This reboots my computer but my bios is still at the same version.

Please advise. I am trying to unlock XMP profiles for new RAM and I assume this is what I need to do to be able to do that?

Firstly, if you don’t know what you are doing with a BIOS update then you should not proceed. Acer has a warning for BIOS updates “Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Acer product. Please proceed with caution” this is because you could brick your system and render it useless. That is why there are limitations on BIOS advice on this site. Take your Acer Aspire TC-780 to an Acer Service centre and get them to update your BIOS and/or give you the appropriate advice.

And for those that don't have $50/hr to spend on a service center to do a software update? There's really no other option? I watched many videos and read up on all the risks and how to avoid them before attempting anything. Just looking for some help here.

None of the BIOS versions for the TC-780 have XMP capabilities that I know of. Although that shouldn't stop you from installing the latest BIOS, R02-B2. What you might try is to extract the BIOS files to a folder on your C: drive, such as C:\NewBIOS, then launch a command prompt in Run as Administrator mode. Next do a "CD \NewBIOS\WIN" then ".\FLASH.bat". You should see any messages the batch file generates then, without it closing the command prompt immediately.
