I see this was a problem a few years ago but has nothing changed?

I've bought a new Acer Spin 3 SP314-54N. I've found that some of my USB-C chargers work with it, but others don't. I'm perfectly happy to trickle charge it with my phone charger overnight, but it doesn't seem to want to. Is there anyway to get this to work?

I'm really confused because my four year old Acer Chromebook can do this just fine. Very annoying.

It's usually dependent on what voltage the charger provides. Phones can often charge just fine over USB-C with 5V, computers ask for 12V or 20V. Specs on your model says:
    USB Type-C port supporting:
    • DisplayPort over USB-C
    • Thunderbolt 3
    • USB charging 5 V; 3 A
    • DC-in port 19 V; 65 W
So the charger needs to supply 19V at least, plus 65W, so close to 3.5A...

Your USB-C charging adapters should be able to deliver 20v and about 65w via PD to work on Spin.
