80-90 Degrees Celsius when gaming? What?

Now, I have read a thread that expresses that this can be normal for a predator 300 2019 gaming laptop. However, I have a 17.3 inch Acer Predator Helios 300 with a 10th gen i7 chip and and rtx 2060 graphics cards. Not only that, but this computer is just a day old! I even wiped my desk prior to setting this baby down on my table. If this temperature average when gaming is not okay/normal, WHAT DO I DO? I hope my device is okay...

It it always better to keep the cpu temps below 85, to be very safe max 80 and gpu below 75 or to be safe 70. These chips can perform even at 95'c but there will be performance issues and the lifetime will reduce. what is ur gpu temp? If it is 80-90 u need to worry as u may be losing out on performance and lifetime. I dont know how the thermals of this laptop are generally, so u can find out and in case urs is much higher than all the other laptops, it would be better to replace or return it. Otherwise the best thing would be to take it to acer for a repaste. But I dont recommend opening a brand new laptop. The best thing would be to return this one and see if the new one heats to the same temps.

Also, how do I figure out what value works best for my laptop when undervolting? I know the LOOOONG way, (just wait until it blue screens.) There’s got to be a more efficient way...
That is the best way to check. There may be automatic programs like oc scanner for overclock but manual is the best way to go. Its just a one time job right.

Right now, I'm playing Rising Storm 2 with 92 dg celsius for my cpu and 78 for my gpu.

This is only when I'm playing that game, and this is also temporary, since it only occurs when I play this specific game.

Are laptop cooling pads an option that I should consider?

If u play less intensive games ur usage wont be much hence ur temps will be low. The game which u r playing maybe gpu intensive causing high temps. Does it occur in other gpu intensive games? U can also run a stress test. If ur temps in a stress test are about 90-93 on cpu and 80 on gpu then in games u should be fine since no game will use 100%of both ur cpu and gpu. Cooling pads do work but before that u can raise the back the back of the laptop by a few inches and put ur fans on max. If u have already done this and these r the temps u get then a cooling pad might not be that effective.

This is the only GPU-intensive game I play the most. The other games I play, such as vanilla (no shaders) minecraft, and Garry's Mod, work way more fine in terms of thermals. In fact, 66 degree celsius CPU and 53 degree celsius are achieved when I play minecraft with fabulous graphics and smooth lighting to the max. Also, I do recall my temps the previous time playing the GPU-intensive game listed above (Rising Storm 2) being around the 90-93 CPU and 70-80 GPU mark.

If the temps rise above the limits i told, they will affect ur laptop in the long run. So the gpu intensive will cause problems in the future due to heat if it continues to push the temps. So, its ur call.

if u want to decrease the CPU temperatures u have to undervolted the CPU.
download QuickCPU program and then press Speed Shift put the minimum 2.60 and the maximum  like 4.2 or 4.1 as u want then press apply..
    then open your games..

Yep, sorry, I forgot to update ya’ll. I undervolted my CPU, and in combination with coolboost, it works way better. I went from a main avg. of 90 degrees celsius to a main average ranging from 77-80 degrees celsius when playing the game I mentioned at the same settings, ultra. However, I may want to not undervolt it that far, (-100.6,) since I just got a blue screen. I appreciate ya’ll’s help!

I use ThrottleStop, should I use QuickCPU?

then use the QuickCpu.. i was having this issue and it's work with this program ;)
