Acer XB27OH goes black after 40 minutes, can still see faint image on screen (using torch) blue light still on, windows can still see monitor connected, changed cables with known good working monitor, If I turn it off and wait 24 hours it will come for another 40 minutes!,  should I junk it or is it a simple repair? thanks for any info in advance.

The issue is with the backlight. There are two connections to the actual panel, a connection from the power board and another from the main board. If it works for a while then fails the issue is more likely to be heat related, where the back light goes off when too hot. That could be on any of those parts... If it's the power board then that's likely the cheapest to replace, if the main board or panel (backlight and display are integrated together) then less likely to be cost effective. It will be a judgement call on your part...

Thanks for your time Billsey, Daft question, what would you do?
I don't have a problem taking it apart but I would have a tough time identifying the problem with my limited knowledge!, know it's only a monitor but it's been great, I would be a shame to just junk it.
But once again thanks for your time :)

I'd look at replacement cost. If a replacement is under say $200 then I'd likely replace with an equivalent. If I were feeling flush I might even go bigger. :) Over that threshold I'd at least try to figure it out before replacing, or get a cheap 24" to tide me over while I worked to get it fixed.

Thanks, I have already bought a new monitor, a 21 incher, (dare I say it, an AOC) but it's not as good as the Acer :(
    Thanks for the reply
