How to make my desktop detect my lavalier microphone? - Aspire C24-962

Please help. I am using an Acer Aspire C24-962 desktop. I purchased a lavalier microphone (external 3.5mm jack) that should be plug and play. But my desktop only recognizes Realtek USB2.0 mic (built in). I tried every hack suggested but still not working. I even installed new version of Realtek Audio and still no success.
Hope you can send some more suggestions. Many thanks.

Are you using the small adapter that should come with it to support PCs? It's a different connector than used on the iPhones.

I think the microphone is a TSSR type. Bec when I tried to plug it in my android phone, it worked well.
