Alright, so 4 days ago I suddenly got a No bootable device message as soon I switched on my 2 year old Aspire A515-51G. I opened bios and HDD wasn't showing up in boot order so I thought the hard disk might have gone bad so I disconnected the hard disk and connected it to another pc, it was getting detected on it.

I then tried to do a fresh install of windows using a usb drive but the hdd wasn't showing up in that process either where we have to select the drive. Although in command prompt from the troubleshoot menu of windows installation process, I could see the drive there using Diskpart> list disk.

I then made a live usb drive of ubuntu, installed ubuntu and the process went without the issue, but after the process was completed and it asked me to restart and remove usb drive, I got the no bootable device message again. Currently I am using the "Try ubuntu" feature and running this from the usb drive. The HDD is showing up in file manage of "Try ubuntu". There is this one error I got while installing ubuntu for one second saying "0.76991] integrity: Problem loading X.509 certificate -65".

Currently I am running "sudo badblocks -sv /dev/sdb" and no bad block are found till 80%. The process is still running and i'll update when the process is completed.

In bios, the boot mode is set to UEFI right now, although I have tried to change it to LEGACY too but that didn't helped. I also tried to disable SECURE BOOT but that didn't help either, I enabled it back.

I feel the problem is in bios somewhere but I didn't access or made any change in bios before this problem started. I tried to google and tried various method, spend several hours of last 4 days but I still haven't made any progress.

Is there anything I can do which can fix the issue.

BUMP. Still facing the issue, will really appreciate if someone can help me. I have tried all the things I can think of or have read on the internet but still the hard disk is not being detected when installing windows or linux (kinda- by this I mean the process of installing linux completes without any issue but after that I get no bootable device but if I go to live ubuntu usb, I can see the linux is installed in the boot drive.
