  • Hi,
No, there's no slots available but if you don't use the DVD and in need of extra storage, you can replace the ODD with a HDD caddy like in this video.

    Hi,
I doubt it would work as it's a SATA port and no PCIe support.

My question was basically the same, I want to put an m.2 ssd drive in place of the dvd and I have extra external DVD's I can use. My question is, Can I use a repair DVD and a system image on a ext. HDD to reinstall the OS on the SSD after installed?

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Hi,
Why don't you want to use the M.2 slot in between the HDD bay and memory slots for your OS and use the HDD for storage?

    Hello,
I'm using the same laptop which is the Aspire E5-473G. I've problem on my HDD which it run at 100% and i tried every method i found in the web and it still run at 100%, sometimes it goes down, but after afew time of restart it went up to 100% again. My question is my HDD still useable or is it damaged? because i was planning to upgrade to a SSD in the main slot and use the old HDD for storage only by replacing the ODD. Because if my HDD is damaged then i should consider getting a higher amount of storage for the new SSD.
