Is there a separate BIOS variant between G9-593 and 793 laptops,

After returning my G9-593 to Acer for issues with flickering screen and sound issues they put in the mainboard from a G9-793

I know there are some differences as the audio drivers are not the same, discovered in initial set up (after the laptop came back) when windows and Acer's update program kept identifying the laptop as a 593 and installing the wrong drivers.

So after a year of stability Windows did a big update, including upgrading the bios from 1.13 to 1.14. Now I'm getting the gpu failing in post (and subsequently giving me a stop error in windows. This happened a couple of months ago and I've tried everything  to get it stable again.
I've managed to downgrade the bios version but still getting GPU fail before windows starts. I can see the flash tool does a platform check and seems to be able to carry multiple variants of the BIOS in the package, presumably to cover different mainboards in the one downloadable.

So:
1. Are the bios versions between the 593 and 793 slightly different?
2. How does the platform check ID the system?
3. If, as I suspect, the system is being incorrectly id'd as a 593 and the wrong BIOS version is being flashed, does anyone know the steps I need to take to force flash the correct version of the BIOS?

I am totally comfortable with editing the Insyde ini file and following steps to get the right firmware. If I can't get this thing stable with this then I'm scrapping the whole thing and never buying an acer product again. The timing has been particularly sad, I bought the machine to be able to run an occulus rift, and I've finally managed to get some permanent space to enjoy it properly and this happens.

thanks

    Wow, OK.

So I managed to get into the BIOS through recovery and can confirm even at the bios level it thinks its a 593.

Windows tried to update a driver and crashed halfway through install so now I'm getting a stop code: essential process died.

Is there a way to update the bios with a USB key? if I can do that AND push the correct version (for the 793) into it then I might be able to reinstall windows and get going again.

Very disappointed that no-one from acer has even acknowledged this problem, even if there is no solution. Ultimately I don't think acer is to blame for causing the issue, they repaired the machine in good faith. Microsoft made the decision to push a bios update without requiring an approval. I just wish someone would give me a lead on a software solution to keep this perfectly good hardware working :(
