Hi, I'm undecided between an acer and an Asus Chrome 2 in 1. The specs look better on the Acer but Asus touts modular repairs for things such as keyboards, batteries, and motherboards. How easy it it to swap a keyboard on the Acer Spin 311?

A detailed answer would need to know which Spin 11 model you are looking at. Most of the newer thin and light laptops have the keyboard integrated into the top cover, which saves just a mm or two. A top cover replacement is no where near as easy as it used to be when you could pull the keyboard out separately, since the MB is mounted in that cover and has to be pulled as well. On the other hand, I've only had to replace one keyboard on my laptops over the last 15 years or so, on an HP... And I've had a lot of laptops. :)

The Spin 311 CP311-3H-K5GD. By the way what's the difference between this one and the CP311-3H-K23X? The K23X appears to have less memory but is $20 more expensive than the K5GD.

OK, as with most of the newer models the keyboard is integrated into the top case. Here's the part number for the US/Intl Silver version: 6B.HUVN7.018
So, a keyboard swap means pulling everything out of that top cover, battery, daughter cards, motherboard, hinges, etc.. That's more of a hassle than the older models, but the older ones are thicker and heavier.
