A few weeks now, I noticed that my laptop suddenly doesn't pic up any sound during calls, usually if I don't use a headset, the internal mic at least works fine. But when I check in the sound settings, recording is not picking up any sound at all.

    Hi @Zuly95

Check the above link to know about how to test the microphone and at last on how to troubleshoot it.

Hope it will help you in some way.

Edit : Now i am assuming that you have already done the basic checks that the blogs and videos are full of online,if not, then please do those checks before following what i have to say
Just fixed it yesterday on my laptop,
1)you have to download the audio driver from the acer support for your particular laptop model
2)then go to device manager>sound, video and game controllers and expand it
3)right click on realtek high definition audio and choose uninstall device
    4) check the delete the driver software for this device checkbox and uninstall
    5) now extract the acer support audio driver, in the folder you will find the setup.exe, open it
6)follow the prompts and the new audio drivers will be installed
7)it will ask to restart the system at the end, disconnect your headset from jack and restart
8)now when the system is up again,go to sound settings, then choose sound control panel in top right side under related settings
9)choose recording and NOW PLUG IN the headset, the ui may not change fir you, or a prompt may that asks which device did you plug in? Choose HEADSET, i would not recommend checking the box to let system remember the selection,as it tends to forget it after a few months, mine did 2 times in a year,so you will have to bear the unsightly prompt everytime you connect any audio device
10)Now maybe your headset microphone may become available in the recording section,if it does, your problem is solved or you may not see any change, to confirm whether the default mic is now headset mic or inbuilt mic, right click on the available microphone>choose properties>listen>and check the listen to this device checkbox> click apply and test your mic by saying something dumb, and at that time I'm pretty sure you will hear your dumb statement through your headset mic
HOPE THIS HELPED ! It was a pain in the you know what when i was struggling to find the solution to it last year, if it helps you, mark this as the answer so others can be spared the ordeal ! Goodluck
