Hey all, so I've had a helios 300 for a couple months now and it's been working great, but a few days ago the speakers and my headphones stopped working. My bluetooth airpods connect just fine, but the sound quality has always been bad so they're not very usable. When looking for a solution I tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers to the best of my knowledge which didn't help, but I found a post here with a similar time and a similar problem. Most people said it was a windows update, so I uninstalled everything from the past couple weeks. However, a lot of the updates just won't let me uninstall them from settings, like if I hover over it no option for uninstall comes up or if I right-click. This was the case for some of them, so something seems to be going wrong. I'm not much of a computer person, so any help would be really appreciated, so please let me know how to uninstall these new updates, if it's worth just waiting for microsoft to fix this issue, or if it's something else entirely. I really don't know what I'm doing, so any knowledge on this is gonna help a ton

Ok yeah, I tried following the steps from just a google search and that didn’t work. I also found some way to uninstall using admin privileges but that seemed a little too complex and I don’t wanna screw up my computer any more. Any suggestions?

AnneNominus the last resort backup whatever you need and ALT+F10 on boot stock recovery clean install select delete everything i will completely format the drive to the first day you booted it to completely rule out any software issues just bare in mind it will not downgrade to the stock windows version if you already upgraded to the latest windows will rewrite the acer recovery when updating to not allow anyone to downgrade to any older versions this is why what everyone should do the first day they boot it should be getting a 16gb usb drive and create a acer stock recovery drive by searching recovery in the start menu to keep the original stock windows version for safekeeping this is the only way to save it good luck good luck

Ok so I decided to give windows one last shot and reupdate it before trying the reset and now my sound works, I really don't know what happened but either way thanks for the help, I'll definitely be more careful with what I really need to update in the future

So just to be clear, this would take me back to when I first got the laptop, before the problem? Also, is stuff like this usually fixed by a new update a week or so later or does microsoft just ignore it

Windows does this, but sometimes it can also be worth just reinstalling the drivers of the headset you use...

Like you i have no issued with various earphones like airpods or whatver, but bluetooth headsets are very funky sometimes depending on the brand.

I recently moved away from using logitech bluetooth headsets since the firmware is just so bad and often straight up breaks the headset, making it necessary to completely reset it and reinstall the drivers and software.

Reason im digging this post back up is cus it actually helped me, i had a new headset from Astro and the issue was def not the firmware or software for the product, re-updating actuallt worked though, so thanks for that!
