Quite disappointed by the fan noise.

Running a fairly basic game (Shadow Tactics - Blades of the Shogun) that ran perfectly with very little fan load on my 4 year old Asus laptop.
The fan noise and heat generated by my AN515-55 is a big disappointment, almost to the point that I'll be wearing headphones to block the fan noise as it's drowning out the audio.
Anyone tried a cooling laptop stand with built in fans for additional cooling? Are they any good? Any recommendations?

Well, let`s not forget that this is a laptop at the end of the day. Cooling pad/stand is an option. Which one to choose? Depends on so many things as budged, design, material, performance reviews (there might be not that many as this laptop is a relative new model). Do some research and pick one.

You don't have to answer every question yourself, especially if you don't have the answer.

My 4 year old Asus was a laptop too, and stating the obvious about a cooling pad and telling me to research and pick one? Really helpful!

I'm asking for recommendations as part of the research process. If you have no recommendations then there's no need for you to tell me to do some research!
