Nitro 5 AN515-44 bluetooth + other issues

I'd like to start off by saying that this is a brand new computer with Windows 10 home 64 bit. After coming back from sleep, bluetooth doesn't work. When I go to the notifications menu, bluetooth seems to be turned on, it says "not connected", but when I click on it, the icon stays blue, so it seems like it won't turn off. In the device manager it appears turned on with all drivers running. In the bluetooth settings, the on/off switch is missing. When I try pairing a device here, windows tells me that I should turn on bluetooth on my computer (implying it's off).

What I've tried so far

1. Enable/disable, reinstall, update drivers
Here's another issue, Device manager stops responding when I try any of this

2. Stop/start bluetooth support services
Another issue, I get an error message saying the support service didn't respond in a timely fashion (error 1053)

3. Factory reset 
Obviously it didn't work, since I had the issue from the beginning

4. Turned off fast startup in power settings

Additional issues:
  • windows won't shut down/restart properly, as in I get the restart/shutting down screen for 10 minutes straight (that's when my patience runs out usually)
  • volume adjustment lags
  • taskbar lags sometimes/becomes unresponsive for minutes

Needless to say I'm getting desperate and don't know what to do.

    Did you do this from inside the Windows environment or using the ALT+F10 cold boot method? Jack E/NJ

    Thanks for the reply Jack!
    I did it using the Windows factory reset, since when the Acer logo appears on boot and I press Alt+F10, nothing happens. I'll probably just take it back to the store, this is ridiculous. 
  • Experiment to disable airplane mode.

    Airplane mode is off.

    I didn't manage to solve the issue, unfortunately the store I bought it from is in a different country so I can't take it back at the moment.

    So you pressed Fn+F3 and nothing happened? Or just turned off the aitplane mode in windows?

    Airplane mode has been off the whole time. When I press Fn+F3 airplane mode turns on as it is supposed to. At least that works.

    Additional issues:

    I just wanted to say that I have this problem as well.  I wouldn't say it's 10 minutes but probably 3-4 minutes to restart or boot up.  It's really ridiculous. 

    Once it's running things are fine, though I've noticed occasional volume adjustment delay.  I haven't used bluetooth yet. 

    Memtest shows my RAM is fine, no errors.  Tried a factory reset and it didn't fix the problem. 

    It seemed to get a lot worse when I installed the new BIOS update....  Acer removed the old BIOS so I can't revert and it doesn't allow for re-installation of the same bios. 

    Any advice would be much appreciated. 

  • @cebalrai Try this:a) access the bios, press f9 to restore the bios and then click save on disconnect;b) then, disconnect the power adapter, press the power for 12 seconds and leave the notebook off for 12 minutes.

    Thanks.  When you say disconnect the power adapter do you mean pull the battery out?  or just unplug the power cable from the port?  Thanks.

    I have not.  Which drivers are you referring to?
  • I refer to the wireless and bluetooth network card drivers. It may be that this model came with a qualcomm atheros device. Can you check in the device manager?

    Yeah Intel for both.  I'll fish around for updated drivers.

    Thanks, I updated the NIC and bluetooth.  Still no change. 

    One other issue I forgot to mention, about 25% of the time when I turn the laptop on, the mouse doesn't work and in device manager there are yellow exclamation points in a bunch of things.  When this happens I can't reboot the computer properly either, shutdown and reboot end up hanging, the screen turns black.  Both the little blue lights below the display stay on though.  I have to hold power down to get it to turn off.  After I do that though it boots quickly and cleanly, not like if windows experienced an unexpected shutdown. 

    When things are up and running like right now, the computer is fast and responsive.  Games and things run great.
