Pleasant day to anyone reading this , my acer 315-53 laptop crashed while charging and I had to do press the power button to turn it off when I turned it back on the only button on the keyboard working is power button. I have tried all the fixes on the internet I even opened the laptop and reseat the keyboard ribbon cable. Should I buy a new keyboard? or does this mean the motherboard is damaged?

Turn machine off. Then turn it back on and immediately start tapping the F2 key. Does the BIOS menu appear? If yes, does the keyboard work inside the BIOS menu? Jack E/NJ

    >>>I even opened the laptop and reseat the keyboard ribbon cable.>>>

Do this again. Push the ribbon in the mainboard socket as far as you can. It may require a rocking motion from side to side while pushing it all the way in. Also, the locking wedge often doesn't hold the contacts against the mainboard socket very well. Then the ribbon slips out a little or is uneven in the socket. You must try to hold the ribbon in while pushing the wedge from side to side with a small tool like a toothpick. There is usually a line on the top of the ribbon connector that must be very close to and parallel or even with the wedge. Jack E/NJ
