Today when I opened my acer laptop, the right hinge almost snapped off, and the plastic laptop frame was warped. Screws holding the hinge and bits of plastic fell off.

This was not accidental damage, I never dropped the laptop and never roughly used it. Will this be covered by warranty? My laptop is only 5 months old.

same here. they are trying to tell me that it was my fault by opening it with too much force. How? They say it will not be covered by warranty. they want over $200 USD. Bought it in March this year.

Sorry for the late response, but I found a solution to this problem and have subsequently repaired the damages. You will need a brand new back frame for the laptop along with M2.5x2.5 screws. These can be found on websites such as Aliexpress, eBay, and Amazon. You will also need a new bezel, and in some cases hinges. The process of repairing these kinds of damages can be found using this video, as to give you some idea.

Also, I recommend you to buy an amazon laptop repair kit, as it contains many of the parts needed in order to conduct such a repair.
All in all, it should cost around $50-100 (depending on level of damage) and about 2 1/2 hours to fix :)
