I have an Acer Swift 3 with integrated camera, which has been working fine for several months. Suddenly it is not working and in Device Manager I have the message "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45). To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

How exactly do I reconnect this hardware device to the computer?

There is a cable that runs between the camera module and the motherboard, through the hinge area. It might have broken where the hinges flex it or it might have come loose at either end. It's also possible the module has failed. More diagnostics need to be done in order to figure out what's actually going on. Are you still in warranty?

Thanks for your quick reply. I purchased this machine in March 2020, so it is still in warranty.

Since you are in warranty I'd go ahead and contact Acer support. They will likely have you reload the drivers to make sure it's not software, then have you send it in for repair.
