I am using Acer Predator Helios 300(Predator G3-572). I was facing issue of overheating from long time. So after trying so many ways from online technician, They asked me to visit the service center(120KMS away from my resident). The complaint was logged for on-site but due to the service center denied to visit, i had no other option but to visit there. I went there, they examined the piece and said that the heating was due to dust. they cleaned it back and handed over to me.

I went home and after a day i started facing the same issue. i travelled 120 km in this pandemic situation again and went there. They said that they would give a try by replacing the thermal module. They order the module and said it would come after few days. After 10 Days, i got call from their side. I travelled 120km THIRD TIME and went there and got my parts replace. They said they replaced the whole module(Thermal Pad and Fans). After a week, The situation today is still the same. Overheating continues. When icomplanted to that service center. They say, you need to replace your battery. How would changing battery help the overheating to such greater extend(20-30 Degree)?

About the overheating, It isnt like that i play a lot of games and it heat. It gets heated even if it is kept idle for 20 minutes and you dont use a single software. Jut idle, The device heats up. I have last fe months of my warranty left. I dont trust the word of Service Center, So came here to get views from experts.

Ok so u can try undervolting as brummyfan mentioned. If that doesnt solve the issue, then most likely u will have to change the thermal paste in your laptop. The latter solves most overheating problems.

No problem, it's better to carry out repasting and undervolt with Throttlestop, follow the video guide, while setting pause the video and follow exactly as instructed, it may look difficult first time around but once you are familiar with the program, it will be very easy, if you are out of warranty period, you can try repasting yourself, when you repaste you shouldn't overtighten the heatsink screws and should use minimum amount of paste.

    Hi,
You could also try undervolting your system using Throttlestop, please read this thread for more information:ThrottleStop Undervolt Profiles Pre-Made - Page 18 — Acer Community

    Thanks.

    About undervolting:
I undervolted it using the intel xtu software.
I did it first time before changing the hardware, initially when it started to happen. it helped for few days. Then It as usual.
i did it again 2 days back, but same thing. Dont help now.

    About Thermal Paste:
I repasted it at time of changing parts. I bought and gave it to that service center guy as he said that it isnt included with hardware. The product i bought was kryonut
I had the same heating issue as u. I used xtu first but it didnt work properly, sometimes there was no undervolt applied though it showed as applied. Then I sqitched to throttlestop which worked but it helped only when the cpu was alone on load. The moment the gpu got loaded too, the temperature spiked to 95+ in just few seconds. So I gave it to acer for a repaste. The technician did a sloppy job and repasted with arctic silver 5(which is supposed to be a good paste). Then I went back and asked him to repaste with kryonaut which is one of the best pastes out there but again I was getting 93'C on load. So i thought of doing it myself. I did it myself(took a hell lot of attempts) and now my high load temp is 75'C on cpu and 70'C on an overclocked gpu, so I would recommend u doing it by yourself.

Near to 75 Degree when idle.  It raises to near to 85 degree when i start using software like MS word/powerpoint. I dont play high graphics games and all so i dont know excatly what would be the tempreture then. But the hardware itself is too hot. i can feel the high temp while touching the portion above the keyboard. the thing to note is i have replaced the thermal module i.e. thermal pad and both fans, but still doesnt helps.

Thank you. Will do it by myself super soon. Also I need to know if there is any device replacement policy from acer's side that they replace our device. My cousin had macbook and he had some issue with it that couldnt be solved by tech guy at service station. they replaced it.

i dont ant to say bt they guys at service center are sometimes bad with their jobs. I hate traveling  everytime there and that also i had to travel twice for same issue. So need to know if there is any replacement policy?! they can check whatever they want to. If they fix the thing its well and good else striaght way replace.

And yes yes, one more thing. Does the battery that isnt working properly can cause too much heating?

Yes they do replace the laptop but u should be prepared to leave the laptop with them for about a month or so. By then if they can't solve the problem they will typically send you a new piece. If ur battery is faulty check for a hot adapter and heating under the laptop other than where the laptop is. If ur battery holds charge for a few hours then mostly its not the battery... But am not sure it would be better to confirm with someone else.

Can you tell me exactly what the guy did wrong to cause a "sloppy" job on the repasting? Because I had mine repasted as well (kryonaut) and temps did not change so I think my guy did a pretty bad job as well.

When I took mine apart I noticed the bottom half of the cpu die was not even covered(it was almost like a mirror) and on the gpu it was really patchy. So i am guessing he put too little.

I don't think you have an overheating problem. These temperatures are normal for this machine. Jack E/NJ
