So i have the 2018 Predator Orion 3000. I want to change the motherboard and move everything else to a new case. I’m just wondering if that’s possible with this pc?
I heard some pre builds won’t let u remove the cpu from the motherboard

Sure, shouldn't be too much of a problem. The mounting positions of the heatsink/fan are fixed but some MBs take a little more tweaking than others for different cooler combos. The new MB will not likely have the piece that sticks out to hold the front ports in place, but if you're going to another case at the same time that won't be an issue. Verify completely that the MB you choose uses the same CPU and memory as you have or else you could wind up having to buy them as well.

I'm curious which mobo and case you went with. I am somewhat new to building computers and am in the position that I cannot use the upgraded PSU and RAM that I ordered for the machine due to the odd mobo.0

Hey guys, sorry i took so long to update yall. The new parts i got took some time to come in, and i got overwhelmed in college which lead to me just forgetting to make and update lol.
So it was a huge success! I ended up replacing more parts than I originally planned and only a few parts from the original Predator remain.
the cpu, m.2 ssd, and hdd
but up there is what i ended up building. the only thing I’m not happy about is the wire management. it was my first time ever building a pc, but I feel like i could've done better if the wires were different lengths.
for those wondering about a new parts list:
- Cougar Gemini S
- GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS Ultra motherboard
- ASUS rtx 3070 dual oc
- Trident Z RGB 3200 8gb x4 (32gb ram)
- Corsair RM750x psu
- DEEPCOOL Castle 360 cpu cooler
- 2x seagate barracuda 4tb hdd
- T-FORCE rgb ssd 1tb
thanks for the support guys!
im happy to answer any questions!0 -
