Any way I can get modern video files(h265?) to play decently on my Aspire 1830T -6651?

I'm running Windows 7 and have installed and played around with MPC to no avail.  It's still unwatchable, though better than KM player and VLC player.  Anyone have any luck with this comp or similar?

Your old USB2 ports can't handle the bit rates needed. A possibility is an external gpu using the wifi card socket. A messy arrangement. Jack E/NJ

Remove battery. Remove 5 screws holding the HDD/RAM door to the bottom. Pull off antenna wires and remove one screw holding the wifi card down to mainboard. Pull the card out. Plug an external VGA m.2 card into the socket and run wires out to the external VGA port. Voila. You have a wires coming out of the laptop to the VGA port and no more wifi. That's why I called it a messy arrangement but it should give you superior video performance. If it was mine, I'd rather spend my money on a newer laptop that could handle the videos than an external video card. Jack E/NJ

You can try these freebies. Part if the issue is the GPU. https://www.windows7codecs.com/ Jack E/NJ

Cool, thanks. I'll try them out. I think I prolly have all the codes I need at this point  and as you say it's just my hardware... Shouldn't in 2020 we have some plug N play USB graphics thumb sticks? Can't a gpu fit under your fingernail at this point? I'll be upgrading probably within the next 6 months.

Where IS my "wifi card socket"? I don't think I have one of those. Maybe the ether net port?
