Hi there,
My Acer Aspire 6 - A615 - 51 was last in good configuration before a recent Windows Update which failed to complete. Now if I press F8 to select the boot menu priority then I get a continuous bleep from the system.

If I try to restore from a Windows 10 image I have on an external HDD then I'm continuously informed there is a cable loose.

Please help me to restore my Acer Aspire notebook

What "Windows Update" was it? As that is strange and shouldn’t happen! Also and if you can boot into Win-10? Take the Win-10 OS back to before the "Windows Update" to a previous restore point, you don't need to reset it! If that doesn’t work then you can go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC and keep all your files which should fix your problem. Let us know how you went? Good luck.

    Hi Steven,

    Many thanks for your reply.

I currently have a USB pen drive and USB external HDD connecting and so far it is Attempting Repairs.

I'm unsure what the Windows update was, tho it was possibly Tuesday gone.

The only time it will attempt repairs is when a USB with an image of windows 10 is attached - but then if I reach recovery and try to go to a restore point then I'm informed to power off to select boot device.

The device is set to form a new restore point each Sunday

As soon as Attempting Repairs has completed I will update you.
    Many thanks again -

    Hi Steven,

I cannot specify if my sytem failed because of a corrupt windows update or if the windows update was corrupted because my system failed.
I have multiple Blue screen errors which I have tried to resolve without success
Error Code 0x000000f which is a required file missing or contains errors
Error Code 0x000009e which is an external boot device having loose connection or unworking

Whichever Error code I choose to repair, if I do a hard shutdown by power-off/power-on 3 times to reach Recovery then I am informed Please Wait and shown one of the Errors above - or I am informed Starting Recovery or attempting repairs then informed of one of the codes.

If I press any keyboard Function or Esc keys, I get a high-pitch bleep.

I have tried an USB stick and external hdd which have windows images of my system. These both work fine on other windows devices, although my Aspire 6 fails to detect.

I have tried to power-off by unplugging the power and letting the battery drain. Whatever I try I fail to reach Recovery Diagnosis or Advanced settings.

If I could reach Recovery I could access dianosis/command prompt/boot device/restore point/reset. If the fuction keys worked I could select boot device or change boot order.

It does not matter now I try I make no progess - correction, I make less progress as at first I reached Recovery a few times but couldn't select boot device, boot device needed selection for Restore Point and I didn't know command prompt entries to repair errors which I now do know.

    I hope this helps -
