So I purchased my predator 500 about two weeks ago and everything seemed to be working just fine. I have the I7 9750H, RTX 2060 model with 144HZ and ive got to say that this is the best and most powerful laptop I've ever owned; I am more than satisfied with the performance this device was able to deliver, but after I upgraded the hard drive and ram, an issue arose. Whenever the computer gets put to sleep (by closing the lid) or when I play some specific games, the display turns off. The fans stay on, the keyboard is illuminated, and overall, the laptop still functions. Here is a list of things I've tried to do to solve the problem.
1) I've updated all the drivers, by Acer and by Intel. Bios is running the latest 1.13 update, Nvidia drivers are up to date according to GeForce experience, and even tried reinstalling the VGA intel drivers that are listed in the Acer website as well as the Intel Driver & Support website.
2) I've tried a clean install of windows with no success.
3) Taken apart the laptop to clean the connectors with alcohol since the thought of me potentially damaging the computer came to me after I upgraded the laptop by installing another M.2 SSD from WD. I have 24gb of ram since I had an extra ram stick from a previous laptop, (same clock speed of 2666 mHz) so I figured maybe if I flipped the ram sticks maybe it'd solve the issue but to no avail.

I'm running out of options since this is my primary computer for school and work and would like to know if there is something I'm potentially missing. When the screen goes black, the only way I can seem to get it going again is by force shutting down the system but even then, that doesn't always work. Sometimes the laptop will shut down after holding the power button for over 5 seconds but when I turn it back on, the display will still stay black and the Predator logo won't display or play the boot up sound. Occasionally the laptop will turn on the keyboard after I power it on but will turn off after 5-10 seconds or so and then turn back on as if the laptop has been stuck in a boot loop.
Hard reset by pushing the battery reset button on the bottom of my laptop doesn't seem to fix the issue either. Strangely enough, sometimes the laptop WILL actually boot up past the Predator logo and boot sound, but after the logo and sound disappears, the screen will glitch out and display white vertical lines that move from right to left for a few seconds before turning off the display again. I don't have an external monitor so I can't tell if the laptop is sending an external signal so It's hard for me to determine if its a screen issue, connector issue, or mother board issue.
Everything I've done till now seems to indicate that It's a motherboard issue since occasionally the computer will actually boot up and show me everything and I'll be able to play some games; so a connector issue or malfunction doesn't seem very likely to me.
Can anyone help? I'm running out of ideas and would like to not have to spend 20 minutes trying to turn on the laptop every time I use it.
I'm running Windows 10 2004 edition, Bios is on v1.13, Nvidia drivers are 27.21.14.5206, Intel UHD drivers are 25.20.100.6471.
Can anyone help me out? problems like this seem to be common, but no definitive solution seems to apply or help me.

So far, if I disable fastboot in bios, the issue persists. I haven't disabled fast startup, but I can't see that being the issue since this happens after I put the device to sleep or if I open a game. How would I go about checking if there's an error in windows event viewer?
  • Try disabling fast startup:

I've disabled Fast startup and the issue still persists. I've opened event viewer, so what should i do now? yesterday i was able to play games and turn off my laptop fine without any issues, then i shut it down last night (with fast startup and fast boot off). Today when i opened the laptop and turned it on, it showed the predator logo and then the screen glitched out again and showed me diagonal lines before freezing. I had to force shut it down about 10 times before i was able to get the display to turn on along with windows.

When i view the events through event viewer, it shows multiple errors around the time the laptop should be booting up. It shows that on 12:45, the laptop booted up but after a few seconds it shows an error that says "The previous system shutdown at 12:43:21 PM on ‎9/‎17/‎2020 was unexpected". Im under the assumption that this is from me forcing the system to shut down, but it says that the shut down (12:43) happened before i turned on the computer on (12:45). Here are some of the errors that show up:
There's another warning that says "The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1903&SUBSYS_132D1025&REV_07\3&11583659&0&20."

An error that says "A timeout was reached (45000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Intel(R) TPM Provisioning Service service to connect."
Theres about 12 warning messages that read "The speed of processor 11 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 75 seconds since the last report." but each error says its about a different processor.

The "Driver Error" keeps showing up saying "The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1903&SUBSYS_132D1025&REV_07\3&11583659&0&20."

These are all the errors and warnings that show up on my event viewer. I have a copy of the logs (i think i havent done this before) that are saved under the .evtx format but the website wont let me upload them since its an "unsupported file type". Does this help? If not, let me know exactly what i need to do to be able to help you guys help me.

Unfortunately that thread didn't offer much help. The solution on the other thread didn't work very well and even the OP said his issues came back. I'm thinking its a hardware defect or a software defect that cant be fixed so I'll just sell this laptop for what I can and get a different one from Lenovo since I've never had an issue with their laptops before.
