XB271HU Green Hue / Shade in top left corner, about 35% of the screen XB271HU

Hello,

I bought the XB271HU late 2016 (December I believe), and around early 2019 (end of the warranty, of course), this strange green hue/shade appeared in the top left corner and has been growing slowly since. I have searched far and wide but couldn't find anyone with a similar issue, it's always something different (even here, I found people with green lines but not such hue/shade).
Does anyone here have any idea of what it could be ? How can I deal with this ? 60% of the time it's bearable but on some games, and especially in grey-shades, this issue become extremely visible (for example, I play War Thunder a lot, on ground it is not really noticeable but in the air, especially when there are clouds, it's extremely visible and bothering).

This is not affected by G-Sync, this screen never moved from this spot so it's not pressure from transport, impact, etc. It has never been damaged.

Can this even be repaired ? At what astronomical price ? I feel burned out by this problem as I couldn't any solution, nor way to lessen its effects. Back then I paid quite the premium for this screen and I refuse to pay the same kind of price to replace it not even 4 years after... it feels even worse about this considering it happened barely a few months after the warranty ended.

Thanks for your time and help, have a nice day.

    Hi,

I have a similar issue with mine, but in my case is a smaller area of the screen that is affected, did you found anything?

This product its been a nightmare, overpriced and a lot of issues, on thing i learned from it, to never buy an Acer product again.

I've been searching for months and haven't found a solution. No one else has answered here either.
It's indeed a nightmare, this screen was completely overpriced but well, kinda knew where I was going back then, I didn't expect to have such a problem tho... And yes, after seeing the numerous big problems raised on this screen, I'm definitely not buying any Acer product later on. They have showed no concern about this screen despite the incredible number of issues encountered by their customers with it.
I thought I was safe and lucked on this one but of course, it had to hit after the warranty, literally a time bomb.

  • I think there may be a problem with the display. However, acer had made firmware available for that monitor: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/561515/firmware-unclear-for-xb271hu-shwoing-the-line-down-the-middle-overlapping -image-issue

My monitor is indeed from the batch before the firmware update. However, I never received any information about this recall !
I guess that by now it is too late and I would have to pay for it ? They haven't made the firmware "available" as far as I know, it seems the only way to update was to send it back to Acer.

This is the answer from the Acer support.
Basically, they are telling me to send it to them to replace the display panel for 367.57€ ($435).
Which is the price for a new monitor on a good deal or second-hand. Ever heard of planned obsolescence ?

That's it, they are not even searching for another solution and are basically admitting they are selling products not even capable of reaching 4 years old.

That does not help a bit, i have the same problem and i just need a solution not more examples of the same problem, that only shows that this is a very bad product.
  • Did you read the second reply from user @rennnnnnnn? He said the problem was partially solved by turning off the monitor and disconnecting the hdmi and dp cable, see: https://community.acer.com/fr/discussion/comment/930293/#Comment_930293
Yes, I also think it could be a problem on the display and that would also make me angry. You may be able to contact him to see if the problem has actually been resolved.

I read his post and yeah, it is definitely the same issue. However, he only noticed recently and it went away after shutting down his screen. I fear that for him, it is only the beginning, as it did with me. At first, it rarely appeared, most often when the screen was working a lot/for a long time.
After some time, it comes back even more often and is more noticeable. It only appears when the screen works a bit, when you just power it on after a long shut down it is not noticeable, it takes around 30min to an hour for it to appear in my case. But once it's here, to have it disappear you need to shut down at the very least two hours.

Not very enjoyable. It is definitely a display problem at this point, there is no obvious driver issue and the firmware cannot be updated (you need to pay and sell a kidney to do so now). I've asked on his topic to come back and tell us about his situation if it ever happens again. I'm sure it will.
Thanks for trying to help egydioceolho, but I believe our case to be a lost cause. Acer only propose to replace the display screen, which is as costly as buying the whole monitor second-hand (perfect state) or during some good deals (brand new). They won't even bother to try and fix this.
