aspire24-865 fan rattle and overheating

I replaced the 1TB HD with a 1TB SATA SSD. Struggled a little taking off the back cover. Boots fine with new SSD, but over heats.
Right now it's between 67C to 75C. At times sounds like the fan rattles. It shouldn't be in the 58c-78c range when idle ... right? How hot should it run. (using speccy to see CPU heat)
Need help, it's my daughters computer and she's going to kill me.

The Acer part number for the fan is 23.B93D1.001. You should be able to find that pretty easily. It's held in place by a couple of screws and should be an easy replacement now that you know how to get the rest apart.

OK - now I'm sure it was the fan that broke given the horrible sound it made when it first started. I don't know what part number it would be and don't know where to purchase the parts. Another guy here had the same problem with a similar all-in-one fan but the parts links given don't have a fan for the C24-865 that I can find. Any suggestions? Any help would be much appreciated.

    billsey - thanks.
I took the unit into the shop and they re-did the thermal paste on the cpu/fan. Said the old paste was almost gone. At first it ran around mid 30c to mid 40c at idle. That's what I was shooting for. Today after about 15 min, it started to overheat again mid 50's to upper 70's. Settled in at about 74c at idle. Wont go down below 65c at idle. I hear a slight rattel, and louder rattel when really hot.

So, I was right and the shop was not completely correct. Fan needs to be replaced, which I will do.

For my information, and possibly others, what temps should I get at idle on the aspire C24-865 - or - any of the Acer all-in-ones?

That's a tough one to answer, since there are so many different factors. My guess is the rattle is dependent on fan speed, so you re either out of balance, the bearings ore going bad or both. So replacing will be the correct choice. Ambient room temperature is often a big factor in how well it works, as is access to air flow, dust build up in the heatsink often restricts airflow enough to cause heating issues, as does dust build up on the fan blades or a restriction in the vents by putting the computer too close to something that can block the air. With an All-In-One the vents are much less likely to be blocked than with a desktop, because you are *much* less likely to place the computer on the floor in a corner. :)
