So yesterday my wife's laptop booted up with a black screen with the power button and keyboard lit up. The backlight for the screen did not come in. I looked around on the forums and saw the power drain method so we did that overnight. Woke up this morning and it worked fine. Shut it down when she was done with it, lo and behold when we turn it on later, the same problem. Going to power drain it tonight and see if I can get it to work. Need a permanent solution for this if possible. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Expoverly have u tried a battery powerdrain (leave it to rest 2/3h to complete drain all capacitors) followed by a bios setup defaults also check by the ram sodimms if you have a power kill switch and if its properly pressed whne the compartment its close in case you have it add some layers of electrical tape to make sure its properly pressed also wouldnt be a bad idea to check your battery wear with hwinfo or battery bar pro if more than 20% consider replacing it asap good luck :)

Did the BIOS default ready, I had planned on checking the Ram later. I'll go ahead and do the battery while im at it after work today as well. Cheers.

Howdy, been a couple of days. Was finally just now able to get the computer to boot up. Tried the power drain method several times yesterday to no avail, but was able to get it to start. It booted up to a crash screen, restarted itself, and booted fully up. Not sure if I should update the BIOS or to leave it as is and pray that it's permanently fixed. (Currently on 1.04). Was reading that the BIOS that fixed this problem was 1.15 but that option is not available for my wife's model. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
