Hi! I have Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43 laptop (recently purchased like a week or 5 days ago)
Ryzen 5 3550
GTX 1650
8 GB Ram
Windows 10 Home

So this what happened. After my online class my prof told me to install a new ms office 365 but i already have one, so i decided to uninstall my already installed ms 365 and microsoft onedrive. I use Revo Uninstaller Pro to uninstall it and used the Advance Scan Option and deleted all the detected files (Registry and etc). So after the uninstallation I happen to notice something different in my system. My battery ui interface was gone (like the sliding bar was missing), it only shows the battery percentage, battery settings and it added a batter saver options box. Since my battery ui was different i check all my other settings and some of it was changed, like it was restored to default or something, and some settings were missing. So I decided to restore the files I deleted in revo uninstaller using its own restore options but it didn't do anything. So i decided to do a system restore. I restored my laptop to the restore point that I have a ms 365 and an old version of norton because thats the only restore points I have before my problem occured. I unchecked the tamper protection settings in norton coz it says that the norton has some issues regarding in the system restore.

After the system restore, the battery ui interface and the settings seems to be fixed, so i head to control panel to uninstall the ms 365 but i cant uninstall it, it says error code 30016-14 (1006) (Im not really sure about the error code coz i cant remember anymore), so searched and found a solution to uninstall it. I used SetupProd_OffScrub.exe (an uninstaller from microsoft to uninstall microsoft apps), the uninstaller removed the ms 365. After that I restarted my laptop then when I was at the user login, I typed my password and it says welcome. The "welcome" and loading circle shows up BUT IT DOESN'T SHOW UP BEFORE. Before it's just a fast and instant login in the desktop but now the login kinda took long, before it was an instant and now its like 3-5 seconds before my desktop appears.

I know the change in login from instant to 3-5 seconds is kinda OA but my laptop is new so I just can't ignore it. So please I just want to know if there is a fix regarding the login and if there is a system error, corrupted files, etc. that damages my system login or if it affects whole laptop performance. Thank you in advance!

  • Hi,
Could you please tell us the storage device in your laptop, is it HDD or a M.2 SSD? You can also try disabling Start-up programs in Task Manager, I would strongly suggest you to uninstall Norton AV program, you are better off with Windows Defender, if you are not happy with it try different third party AV programs and see whether it helps.

My laptop have two disks which is 1 TB HDD and 256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD (HFM256GDJTNG-8310A). The windows OS is installed at the SSD drive. I also uninstalled my Norton AV and installed bitdefender coz I don't have windows defender, I only got windows security from the default Windows 10 Home and I think win security is different from win defender.

Before the system restore problem, like my first week use of my laptop, I really don't have any issues with my start-up programs and the slow 3-5 seconds loading in the user login. these are the same programs I enabled and disabled before my system restore problem (see picture below). EDIT: it seems like the picture i snip doesn't show.

But I also tried to disabling my start-up programs but I still got the same 3-5 second user login "welcome" and loading circle.

  • I think 3-5 seconds start-up is reasonable and normal, if you want more assurance please wait for someone else to chime in.

I really wish it's normal but the way I experience after the system restore thing and in the first day I open it, is really different in speed and feeling. The only thing this 3-5 second login is bothering me is because it might affect my whole laptop performance by some corrupted files or something without me noticing.
The option I think is to fully restore the windows itself like it's brand new but maybe that's the last thing I want to do. Anyway I really wish someone will chime in too.
