I have figured out the card reader problem after passing 6 months... I bought the laptop in Singapore. Even, I could not think about it, that I should have checked card reader before buying... That is really insane, and make this laptop for such money ~S$2200, and customer must check such stupid things like USB, Card Reader, HDMI etc. availability. Seems, Acer does not care of customers... I spent 2200 dollars for that, and now I have to waste my time for Service Repair... No, I WILL NOT. I just disappointed by manufacture process and NO quality control... Same view on Software Support. On website we cannot find the latest drivers to keep our machine up to date. We have to check the Internet to find appropriate drivers... It really sucks... One calling - PREMIUM PRODUCT... Maybe, Acer will hear us... and change its mind. I hope...

Hi everyone !!! I've got a solution about card reader. Go to Device Manager. Looking for category Universal Serial Bus Controller. Expand it and search for Generic USB Hub. Open it. Move to the tab Power and press button Refresh. For a while you can see Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader and be HAPPY with this. If it does not help then move to the tab Advanced and try to press Reset Hub button. Should help. As a result, I can see the Card Reader in Device Manager and power 500mA. Now it is plugged in, before it was just unplugged so we could not see it in Device Manager.

Download the latest driver 6.2.8400.30143 from Realtek Website.

To test it, I got SDHC Memory Card I was surprised that Card Reader does not read/recognise this Memory Card. Put it in and NO REACTION but device is visible in Device Manager...Possibly, I need just SDSC Memory Cards. But, such combination looks much strange as Acer S7 comes with TOP DEVICES on the board... And it supposed to read every SDx standard. Just FYI my old Acer can read this card without any questions... That's interesting... What is the next step??? What standards this card reader supports??? Good luck with it to everyone...
