Am seeing a small grey translucent patch in the bottom right of my screen all the time and over any window. It is inert and the scroll triangle behind it can be seen but cannot be used. The same with the 'cancel' button on emails when you want to attach documents etc. The ''open' button is slightly uncovered so documents can be attached but you cannot cancel. What is it a bug, or virus or something more sinister. What can be done to remove it?

Boot into your BIOS and look there. If the grey patch doesn't show then it's a software issue in your OS or with an app. Not in the monitor. If it's there in the BIOS then it's a screen issue, but I have no idea why it would affect applications or the OS. My guess is that a little tweaking with Task Manager, killing one task at a time, will show you which one is doing it.

Thanks for the response Billsey. It was caused by a software for controlling computer use and helping you to take breaks. The countdown to a break was displayed in the same area of the problem and had an identical shape. I have stopped using it and problem solved.
