Acer Predator XB271HUbmiprz strange display failure/artefact

Hey guys,

My monitor is developing a strange display artefact. I noticed it recently and now I cannot unsee it. It's most noticeable on white screens. It seems like the shadow around the 'dot' is getting stronger the longer the monitor is running.

The spot also starts flickering if the fps drops on e. g. A loading screen.

Is there anything I can do about it? I'm also willing to open it by myself and clean it or sth. When it comes to replacing a led I'm probably not able to do so.

I'm also thinking about sending it in for repair, but I'm afraid it's gonna be pretty expensive since the monitor costs still around 600 Euro new.

Any Tipps are appreciated. From fixing to just open the casing of the monitor.

    Hi @flipson

Turning off G-sync fixes the problem. Please try this

    1. Turn off G-sync
    2. Unplug DP cable from my PC while the monitor was turned on
    3. Plug in the DP cable
    4. Turn on G-sync

I hope it will be useful to you!

    Thank you thank you!
just tried it and I think the flickering is gone!

The spot itself is still visible and used to get bigger with more shadow the longer the monitor runs. I'll report back over the weekend if the shadow is also gone. Can't game or work today with it.

But I guess I have to live with this since I'm also working on the monitor and using a MacBook connected via hdmi where the spot also gets darker over time

Thanks again! My problem is completely solved!

The past 2 months I was thinking about sending it in for repair, which would have cost me something about 100 - 300 Euro.
I tried to open the monitor... but didnt want to use too much force and gave up..

This huge shadow is still happening. More noticeable the longer the display runs.

I'm using osx when working and I noticed that the top bar is burning in in this region. So I guess the whole shadow is some kind of burn in.

Do you have a fix for this as well? :)
