I created a topic last year that my Wi-Fi adapter was no longer identified by the system.

And I updated that after the Windows 10 1903 release, the device was again recognized by the system but, still showed the original driver version.

Well here we are now on Windows 10 2004 and the device is still here but, I have now confirmed that it does not work.

The device is enabled and present in device manager and "Network Connections" but Windows 10 doesn't even process it as a Wi-Fi adapter, there is no "Wi-Fi" category in "Network & Internet" in Settings and the device is not able to connect to any networks.

I tried reverting to older drivers and even a newer one that is in the Microsoft Windows Update catalog but, nothing got it working. Currently on driver version 10.0.0.355.

I found some unofficial drivers that are newer but, was not able to find a source for download.

Here's a link to my old post:

If anyone else owns an ATC-605-UB11 or any similar Acer desktop that has the Qualcomm Atheros ar5bwb222 bluetooth/wifi modul in it, and you are having the same problem, a confirmation of that would be nice so I can close the book on this and accept that it is the drivers that are bad and not the hardware itself.

There is no solution for this, it is either drivers are no longer compatible with Windows 10 OR the hardware has failed but, i would like to poll the community and see if others are having this problem also.

The card, Acer part number DA.10211.002 is built by Lite-On for Acer using the Atheros chips. It's a half size mini-PCIe card. If you were to replace it, there's no reason why you couldn't buy someone else's, like the more popular Intel. It certainly sounds as if your issues are hardware, and a replacement card is pretty cheap. They all use the same antenna connectors.

Its funny because I've used this card with Win-10 2004/19041.450 and with Win-10 versions and OS builds for 4 years before and the Atheros AR5BWB222 in a V3-571G works perfectly without a problem and its an excellent card with no problems.

Try uninstalling old drivers and updating drivers to these Win-10 drivers for WiFi/BT from here: https://www.ath-drivers.eu/atheros-wireless-drivers.html to these WiFi/BT drivers’ win10-10.0.3.456-whql and bt-10.0.3.14-win1064 that work for me. If that doesn’t work then replace the card (they are pretty cheap and easy to replace) as it must be faulty, also after reinstalling the new drivers and the WiFi/BT doesn’t activate press F3 key or Fn+F3 keys when logged into Win-10 together to activeate the WiFi/BT, its a very simple process.

Thanks for the feedback. I most likely will just replace the hardware.

I did try to download the 10.0.3.456-whql drivers, I found them the other day but, all I get is a zero byte file, I think something could be wrong with their host? I'm going to try over a vpn also.

I forgot to mention, it is only the Wi-Fi that doesn't work, bluetooth works fine still.

The AR5BWB222 Mini PCIe card is pretty cheap and reliable and replacing it is very easy, after you replace it try the link again that I’ve given you because it works for me, I just tried it and it works 100%, good luck.

I was able to get the 10.0.3.456 driver downloaded and installed but, the device still does not actually work as a wi-fi adapter. So it must be that the hardware is not functioning properly. I'm going to try to reseat the card and if it still doesn't work, then I'll just be replacing it.
